We have only just started calving but are already thinking about mating season. This is a young sire we think will make a good heifer bull. When selecting sires we place a lot of emphasis on pedigrees and we love his. He has our 4 greatest cows in his- Silverstream Wendy T63, Silverstream Glossy S120, Silverstream Chandler R111, Brookfield Ocelot and our great herd sire Silverstream Evolution top and bottom. This means predictability. #nzcharolais #charolaiscattle #charolais ... See MoreSee Less

We posted a couple of days ago about a terrific line of Charolais sired heifers. They were processed on Friday and the results were 61 heifers had a carcass weight of 300kg and dressed out at 58%. These were the bottom end heifers at weaning bred from peoples 'B grade' or bottom end cows. Using a Charolais sire is such a great way of lifting performance in a simple way. Dressing % is also an underated trait. If these same heifers dressed out at 52% (at the current approximate schedule price) that would be $200 per head less or you would need an extra 78 cents/kg to get the same per head. #morebeeflessresources #begreengowhite #hybridvigour #weightpays #yieldpays #productivity #charolaiscross #charolaiscattle #commercialend #crossintoprofit #beidentifiable ... Drafted up these girls today. They have been on a rape and harvested sugar beet diet and doing 1.6kg a day. You have to really admire the width and performance you get from Charolais sired heifers. Pretty awesome weights and finish on these girls and only 22 months old. #morebeeflessresources #begreengowhite #hybridvigour #weightpays #yieldpays #productivity #charolaiscross #charolais #commercialend #crossintoprofit #beidentifiable ... The best thing about having a Charolais stud is seeing how your genetics work out in the real world. Lucky for us we get to see it first hand with all the calves we buy back and finish. This mob of Charolais cross calves are 10 months old and are doing nearly 1kg/day on a fodder beet crop during the winter. We think this is pretty good seeing there was only 15 hours of sun in June. #begreengowhite #morebeeflessresources #weightpays #yieldpays #productivity #hybridvigour #commercialend #charolais #nzcharolais #charolaiscross #crossintoprofit #beidentifiable ...
