The Horned Hereford stud is a new venture at Silverstream.
The herd has been handed down to us from Anna’s parents, Peter and Jill Smyth. Peter and Jill established the ‘Na Puteputi’ Stud and have been breeding bulls for hill country properties in Hawkes Bay for over 40 years. Silverstream runs 60 Hereford cows alongside the Charolais.
The first line of bulls were sold in our 2014 sale. Our aim is to breed functional bulls with good bone, constitution and muscle. Our current herd sire ‘Olympus’ from the Maungahina stud is a bull who displays all these qualities.
